Other Leadership Experience
Teen Counselor for Premium International Exchange
I served as a teen counselor at a Summer camp for Japanese exchange students in 2014. We served as the first group of people from the United States to meet these students. We spent a week with them introducing these students to the American culture. I learned a lot about cultural disparities that has helped me to be more considerate of racial and ethnic diversities that exist around me. These students taught me so much about patience and being culturally accepting.
High School Cross Country Captain
I served as the captain of my high school cross country team. It was the captain's responsibility to plan team activities, help the coach decide on runs, design our team shirts, and motivate younger girls to come to practice and have a positive experience. I learned how to be more compassionate because I got to personally know each of the girls on my team. I learned about their struggles with running and came up with ways that I could get them to enjoy it more.
FCCLA National Competitor
Over the Summer of 2017, I had the opportunity to spend a week in Nashville, Tennessee at the National Leadership Conference for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. While there, I had the chance to compete with my friend Jessica in the hospitality, tourism and recreation category. We presented our design for a recreation center that we had spent months preparing. We learned valuable presentation skills, as well as how to design projects in an easy to read format. Our project received the "gold" ranking because we had all of the required elements and had done a very good job. While we did receive the gold ranking that does not mean we placed first, but we did well against some of the best competitors in the nation.
Rob Bishop's High School Conference
My senior year of high school, in the fall of 2016, I had the opportunity to attend an annual conference that Rob Bishop holds for high school AP government students. We learned more about Congress and their jobs and responsibilities. We were also given the chance to express our own political view points. I was interviewed by ABC 4 Utah and was quoted in the new story that they did for the conference. This taught me leadership skills, because I learned how to be confident in my own political ideology and how to stand up for myself and my beliefs.

Southern Utah University Student Association
I served for one year as the Academic Senate Assistant on SUUSA. I helped take minutes and plan events with the Academic Senate. We met monthly with SUU's provost to discuss issues that were pertinent to SUU's student population. The following year I worked as the student senator for the College of Education and Human Development. I planned an event where students from my college could meet with academic advisors and professors and learn about requirements for the teacher education program. Below I included a flier from this event.
