EDGE Project Details
Goals
Goal 1:

-
I will serve as a TAVI Team Captain/group leader at Southern Utah University’s freshmen orientation to learn how to be a better leader/teacher.
-
I believe that I was able to achieve this goal because I got to really see what goes into being in charge of a group of your own. I learned that preparation is a very important aspect of leadership or teaching.

Goal 2:

-
I will serve as a TAVI Team Captain to learn whether I prefer working with older or younger students.
-
I was able to achieve this goal because I have already worked with younger students and was able to really get to know and work with older college-aged students for my EDGE Project.

Outcomes
Outcome 1:
By serving as a TAVI Team Captain, I was able to learn that I like working with students who are older (high school/college age) rather than younger junior high/elementary students. The benefit of this outcome is that I now feel more confident in sticking with secondary education as my major.

Outcome 2:
By serving as a TAVI Team Captain, I was also able to help the students that were in my orientation group by introducing them to college life and helping them to feel more comfortable by being a friend and a leader to them. The benefit of this is that the students who were in my group have continued to talk to me and even ask me questions that they have about college when I see them around campus.
